Event Coordinator
Houston Public Library is looking for a talented and customer service driven Event Coordinator to lead the production and promotion of events held at the library, both private events in our premier spaces and signature library programming. Signature programming allows the library to engage the community with authors, artists, musicians, civic leaders, scholars, and more. The ideal candidate needs to be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as necessary based on the events schedule.
The Event Coordinator essential duties include :

Working conditions include lifting moderately heavy items, walking on rough surfaces, exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions, and dealing with modestly unpleasant situations.
Minimum requirements include an Associate degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Management or a closely related field, and one year of related work experience.
Preferences include experience with event coordination, experience in public libraries, experience with customer service and hospitality, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
The selection process will involve application review and / or interview, and the department may administer skills assessment tests.
