Quality Manager
Strattec Security Corporation is seeking a Quality Manager for its Milwaukee, WI, HQ. Will be responsible for championing, coordinating, and driving the continuous improvement of manufacturing and production quality systems at Strattec with a particular focus on leading the Company's Quality Assurance Departments (including Auditing, Problem Solving, Customer Care, and Internal Quality) in its efforts to improve root cause analysis and corrective action standardization, scrap reduction, and implementation of quality systems to drive KPI improvement of scrap, labor, performance, and variation reduction in the Company's die cast, stamping, plating, and machining manufacturing operations. This will include overseeing and managing the component Approval Process as well as the implementation and monitoring of improved automotive part and component manufacturing processes, systems, tests, and methods that will ensure and continuously improve the Company's ability to design and manufacture parts and components for the Company's Tier 1 OEM customers that meet both internal and external quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949) and requirements as well as to maintain and continuously improve manufacturing operations at the Company's manufacturing facilities. Specific duties will include : overseeing and managing the Quality Assurance Departments' support of daily manufacturing operations by designing, developing, and driving the implementation of improved standards, structures, workflows, production equipment layouts and methods, practices, procedures, systems, and controls to facilitate the KPI improvement of root cause and corrective action standardization, implantation of quality systems, streamlining of manufacturing operations, new product introduction, reduction of waste, variation reduction, delivery of quality products, and enhancement of return on capital investment in production equipment and facilities. Overseeing and managing the development of standardized systems and structure to ensure world class performance which includes detailed quality instructions, APQP documents, error proofing, and automated quality control systems. Overseeing and managing the Quality Assurance Departments' activities related to APQP documentation to facilitate successful and on-time component PPAP. Utilizing PPAP elements, Gage R &R Statistical Process Controls), and AIAG core tools to be able to process component PPAP approvals and deal with resolving and preventing Quality Problems. Directing and ensuring consistency in the ways and methods that internally manufactured as well as externally supplied parts and components have their quality checked, documented, and sustained. Providing expert product design recommendations and feedback for new and existing parts and components suitable for manufacturing consistently at world class performance levels. Monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly Cost of Quality metrics for improvement opportunities. Developing and implementing strategies for Cost of Quality optimization. Overseeing and directing communications regarding quality problem resolution with internal and external customer base to ensure customer expectations are fully met. Overseeing and ensuring the Company's implementation and leveraging of Six Sigma, Red X, and Kaizen methodologies to speed up root cause resolutions and permanent corrective actions. Overseeing and directing the Quality Assurance Departments' methods and activities for completing all customer required APQP documentation to ensure all customer quality needs are met. Managing up to ten associates in Quality Assurance Department. Overseeing sustainment of the Company's Quality Management System according to applicable industry standards. Serving as Quality Management representative for IATF 16949 certification. Overseeing and managing the definition and communication of quality requirements to raw material suppliers; monitoring their performance; and developing and implementing strategies to ensure supplied materials meet Strattec's quality standards.
Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week; 9 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.; $131,227 per year.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; 3 years of product or quality engineering experience in the Tier 1 automotive part and component supplier industry which included analysis of engineering specifications, industry standards, and test specifications; Design For Manufacturing (DFM) assessment of product designs; new product risk assessment; creation of Bills of Materials (BOM); generation of engineering change notices; development of product validation strategies; and development of Failure Mode Prevention documentation, including Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Boundary and P-Diagrams, and Design Review Based on Failure Mode (DRBFM); and 1 year of supervision or management experience in the Tier 1 automotive part and component supplier industry which included providing guidance to product or quality engineering during the development of automotive components as well as leadership towards the achievement of product or quality engineering goals and deliverables. Very limited (5%) domestic (up to 1 wk / yr) and international (up to 2 wks / yr) to supplier locations. Qualified U.S. workers are encouraged to apply for this position.
