Project : Server Hardware Replacement and Virtual Machine Migration
Resource Needed : Project Manager
II. Project Scope
The PM will manage all aspects of the project lifecycle that includes, but not limited to planning, coordination,
execution, monitoring, and closeout of the following :
- Replacement of aging server hardware across facilities
- Migration of virtual machines to new hardware platforms
- Coordination of vendor activities and internal IT teams
- Implementation of updated security configurations and patching
- Oversight of documentation, testing, and training deliverables
III. Key Responsibilities
Ensure project scope is clearly defined and managed through formal change controlDevelop and maintain a project schedule aligned with’s operational needsManage project budget and ensure expenditures are tracked and authorizedCoordinate technical specifications and changes with PMO, IT staff, and vendorsConduct site visits to monitor implementation progress and assess risksLead project coordination meetings and provide executive-level status reportingMonitor resource allocation and mitigate risks to ensure successful deliverySupport procurement activities and vendor coordinationMaintain quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycleResolve issues and implement corrective actions as neededConduct Go / No Go assessments for hardware cutovers and VM migrationsManage stakeholder communications and ensure timely notifications for outagesEnsure compliance with’s safety, access, and change management protocolsFacilitate ASR and USR submissions and approvalsEnsure completion and submission of all required documentation (e.g., migration plans, test results, updateddiagrams)
Coordinate training and knowledge transfer sessions for staffProvide project briefings and participate in milestone and final reviewsIV. Deliverables
Updated project schedule using’s standard PM tools (e.g., MS Project)Weekly progress reports and project logs (issues, risks, action items, decisions)Finalized migration plans and updated infrastructure diagramsAs-built documentation and lessons learned reportTraining materials and session recordsV. Technical Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum three (3) years of experience in IT project management, preferably in infrastructure or systemsmigration
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in server hardware troubleshooting and replacement.Minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing hypervisor environments, server hardware platforms,virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and enterprise IT environments
Experience with Active Directory, backup systems, and cloud integration (e.g., Azure), Windows Server, VMware,and server hardware infrastructure.
Experience with disaster recovery planning, security patching, and firmware updates.Understanding of data center operations, including rack management and cabling standards.PMP certification preferredStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management toolsAbility to interpret technical documentation and coordinate with support teams.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, ensuring tasks are completed with minimalsupervision.
