About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to lead its legal function and provide strategic advice at the highest level. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the organization meets all statutory and regulatory obligations, and will play a key role in enabling timely and informed decision-making. This highly influential position involves advising the Chief Executive, Executive Team, and the Board on complex legal matters, as well as supporting governance and compliance. The General Counsel will also engage with key stakeholders to deliver a high-performing legal function, particularly during a period of organizational change. Applicants for the General Counsel role at the company should be qualified Solicitors or Barristers eligible to practice in England and Wales, with extensive experience in managing in-house legal teams and advising at senior levels, preferably in government or complex organizations. Comprehensive legal expertise is essential, including in areas such as commercial arrangements in government, data protection, freedom of information, legislative interpretation, and regulatory regimes. The role requires the ability to present complex information clearly and to build collaborative relationships both internally and with external counsel. The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence with strategic insight and be capable of driving innovation in legal support to help achieve the organization's objectives.
