Butterfly Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and improve daily warehouse operations for a growing third-party logistics (3PL) provider based in Chesapeake, VA. This is an excellent opportunity to bring leadership, process expertise, and team development into a dynamic and fast-paced distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Work directly with site leadership to oversee the efficiency, quality, and performance of daily warehouse operations.
- Monitor and report on key operational metrics to ensure service standards and client expectations are consistently met.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in areas including receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs to drive consistency and performance across warehouse functions.
- Lead, coach, and support a team of 4–5 front-line Supervisors and 35–45 warehouse associates.
- Forecast labor needs, coordinate staffing plans, and manage onboarding and training programs.
- Drive adherence to safety protocols and maintain a high standard of regulatory and operational compliance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer requests, service escalations, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align operations with account requirements and service goals.
- Utilize WMS tools to optimize workflow and ensure accurate billing and reporting.
- Facilitate daily planning meetings and lead execution of action plans across warehouse teams.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships that support operational and cost efficiency.
Preferred Background :
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in warehouse operations; background in e-commerce or mass retail fulfillment is strongly preferred.Prior experience working within 3PL operations is required.Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ability to use system tools for productivity, planning, and billing.Proven ability to manage teams, motivate performance, and handle fast-paced operational demands.Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Experience in quality control or inventory accuracy is a plus.Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and operational experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word required.
