About the Role :

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation process, working under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help patients achieve their therapeutic goals. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans designed to improve patients' daily living skills and overall quality of life. The ultimate goal is to assist patients in regaining independence and enhancing their ability to perform everyday activities. By fostering a supportive and motivating environment, the COTA contributes significantly to the patients' recovery journey and overall well-being.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
  • Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as required by the state of practice.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working in a clinical or rehabilitation setting.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Assist occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises to improve patients' physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Monitor and document patients' progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising occupational therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and strategies to enhance daily living skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment, ensuring all equipment is safe and functional.
  • Skills :

    The required skills for this position include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with patients and their families. Organizational skills are vital for managing multiple patients and maintaining accurate documentation of their progress. Additionally, physical stamina and dexterity are necessary for assisting patients with exercises and mobility tasks. Preferred skills, such as bilingual communication, enhance the ability to connect with a broader range of patients, ensuring they receive the best care possible.
