Overview The Mechanical Design Engineer is a full-time position that reports to The Engineering Manager and is responsible for performing detailed designs of custom mechanical systems. This role is located in Sterling Heights, MI. This role will be a full time role hired directly onto our client's payroll. You will get thier benefits and be an employee of them. Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities : Develop and perform detailed design of custom mechanical systems incorporating client technologies Embody technical specifications of a project into 3D model, approval drawings, and manufacturing drawings Communicate with peers to establish design direction of a project and to increase quality of work Proof checking of your own work through 3D CAD interface check, drawing review, and review of bill of materials Develop testing plans of these devices as well as monitoring their testing and generate testing hypothesis, conclusion, and recommendations Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems Participate in Tests to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results Provide technical assistance and resolution when mechanical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after construction Locate files relating to specific design project in database library Open / Run applications on computer Record completed job data Check in files to file management and use specified workflows. Review project Booking Packages [project charter] and procedural manuals Assist Teammates by resolving and updating designs Consult with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts, and determine requirements of detailed working drawings Review existing engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material Collaborate with engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems Participate in planning methods or sequences of operations for developing or testing experiments Draft detail, and assembly, drawings of design components using computer-assisted equipment or standard drafting techniques and device Required Skills / Abilities Knowledge of fabrication, machining and other manufacturing processes Knowledge of standard mechanical engineering industry practices Knowledge of basic machining methods such as milling, drilling, tapping, turning, etc. Proficient in some / most performing engineering calculations such as motor horsepower, stress and deflection of steel and torque analysis of shafts Capable of problem definition, analysis and solution development Familiar with ERP software Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc. Proficient in Microsoft Office Good planning and time management skills, ability to organize, set priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously Good mathematical and mechanical aptitudes. Good decision making, problem solving and team member skills Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills .
