Job Summary
Dispenses medications for patients upon receipt of a medication order. Provides drug information to the medical and nursing staff upon request. Ensures appropriate pharmaceutical care is administered to patients of the hospital. Maintains and coordinates systems to ensure that pharmacy operations run efficiently on a day-to-day basis. Supervises technical and clerical pharmacy personnel involved in pharmacy operations. Assists in the implementation of quality control measures in order to identify and rectify problems. Performs duties of technical or clerical personnel as required.
Minimum Requirements
Graduate of a College or School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree. Maintains licensure in good standing as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Indiana. Previous hospital experience preferred.

Able to understand medical terminology and read and interpret physician orders, and accurately select / package / prepare medications to be dispensed.Able to accurately / efficiently perform computer order entry of physician orders into MediTech computer system.Able to accurately and safely prepare sterile IV preparations in accordance with USP 797 Sterile Preparation Guidelines utilizing aseptic technique and demonstrating ongoing competency in this area.Develops expertise to effectively manage Pharmacy automation (Pyxis) to insure patient safety, accurate management of Pyxis technology including appropriate drug availability specific to each patient care area.Effectively manage drug inventory / purchasing by monitoring drug / supply usage / inventory and ordering appropriately to insure ongoing optimum pharmacy services. This would include monitoring drug expiration dates with replacement of medications prior to expiration, as well as performing timely ongoing unit inspections of drug inventories / storage, and appropriately processing daily drug deliveries, verification of invoices, addressing inaccuracies with wholesaler, and restocking with rotation of stock.Accurately process / manage Pharmacy drug charges and credits through automation and / or manual processes, as well as effectively provide Pharmacy drug distribution to all areas being serviced.Able to print patient profiles and utilize to accurately fill a 24 hour scheduled drug supply for each patient.Effectively problem solve, communicate, and participate in project management.Assists in training student Pharmacists by reviewing work and by answering questions.Customer ServiceAssures customer service meets or exceeds expectations of customers.
Treats all customers with courtesy and respect.Other duties as assigned to assist in department operations.Working Conditions
Generally works in a well lighted, clean and temperature controlled environment. Position is listed as Risk Category 3 : No employees in this category will have occupational exposure due to tasks or procedures that they may perform.
