Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher supports students with disabilities in achieving academic, social, and behavioral goals. This role involves working closely with special education teachers and therapists to provide one-on-one or small group instruction, classroom support, and assistance with daily living skills.

Tasks

• Support individual students or small groups under the direction of a special education teacher.
• Assist with implementing individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Monitor student behavior and progress, documenting observations.
• Modify classroom materials to meet students' needs.
• Support students with physical care needs (e.g., toileting, mobility assistance, feeding) if required.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Supervise students during transitions, breaks, or field trips.
• Communicate regularly with teachers and staff regarding student development.
• Maintain confidentiality in all matters concerning students and families.
