Job Summary :

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Wilson County Hospital (VWCH) is seeking to hire a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), whom will report to the VUMC Wilson County Diagnostic Labs, Diagnostic Laboratory Team Leaders (DLTL)'s, and whom will have responsibility for performing routine clinical pathology testing and instrument management of laboratory services under occasional guidance. The MLT is responsible for the accurate performance of laboratory tests and other duties in a manner that complies with all approved protocols. The MLT utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills to assure accurate and reliable clinical outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate performance of routine tests through the pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic stages.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
• Actively participates in compliance and quality management activities.
• Consistently promote teamwork and utilize constructive communication and collaboration skills.

Position Qualifications :

Required :

oSuccessful completion of CAHEA or NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program or BS from accredited institution with major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science and ASCP technologist generalist or categorical certification or equivalent certification; or equivalent education and experience per CLIA and TN Medical Laboratory Board ( personnel performing high complexity testing. Allowed 120 days to obtain State of Tennessee license. Considered 'in training' prior to license approval.

Position Shift :

VUMC diagnostic labs, Wilson County Hospital Phlebotomy Lab Services, located at our Wilson County Hospital Campus in Lebanon, Tennessee (TN), PRN with availability to work Monday-Friday, 3pm-7pm CST

Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
