Overview :
The Controller is responsible for managing and leading all financial operations for RCR, including the supervision of the Accounting Assistants. This role ensures accuracy in job costing, reporting, and compliance while supporting insurance-driven restoration work. The Controller will provide strategic financial guidance, maintain strong internal controls, and ensure efficient, accurate financial operations across all RCR locations. This role is hands-on and collaborative, bridging field operations with financial accountability.
Responsibilities and Duties :
Lead, manage, and mentor the accounting team, including Accounting Assistants across multiple offices.
Establish clear expectations, processes, and performance standards for the accounting team.
Foster a collaborative environment that aligns with RCR’s values and team-oriented culture.
Oversee accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, payroll, and job costing.
Ensure the accuracy of financial data and job-related costs tied to insurance claims and project budgets.
Monitor cash flow and manage reconciliations for all company accounts.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Prepare and deliver timely financial reports and analysis to leadership.
Ensure financial statements are in accordance with GAAP and internal standards.
Maintain documentation and support for audits, tax filings, and legal compliance.
Enforce financial controls and continuously evaluate policies and procedures for improvement.
Drive improvements in accounting workflows, system integrations, and reporting accuracy.
Optimize use of software tools including QuickBooks, DASH, and Google Workspace.
Collaborate with internal departments (Mitigation, Reconstruction, Estimating, etc.) to ensure transparency and alignment on financial matters.
Assist in annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
Provide variance analysis and profitability insights to support business decisions.
Contribute to leadership discussions with financial insight and proactive recommendations.
Qualifications and Skills :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Restoration or construction industry experience strongly preferred.
Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel; experience with DASH is a plus.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, job costing, and insurance billing practices.
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across departments.
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion with confidential information.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal team collaboration and customer interactions.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-driven environment.

Work Environment & Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 4 ½ day work week.
Primarily office-based.
Fast-paced environment with deadlines related to insurance claims and financial reporting. Our work is heavily insurance-based, requiring detailed financial tracking and reporting to support claims and project costs.
