GW Hospital Coding Specialist

Job Summary : To review medical records and assign ICD-9-CM and CPT codes to Inpatient and / or Outpatient records. Post charges and level Emergency Room visits. Abstract medical, demographic and other information from the medical record and enter data into hospital wide information system, meeting coding standards and daily productivity.

Qualifications

Education / Qualification :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years coding experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT-4

    • Skills :

  • Computer / keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and disease process
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to speak and write English fluently
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
