Essential Job Duties

- Receives calls from physician’s offices, patients, and hospital departments for scheduling of outpatient diagnostic procedures, accurately records information, obtains necessary information for patient contact, obtains written order for scheduled testing. Assures all data and documents have been obtained and properly entered into hospital records.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Compiles, verifies, and distributes information regarding patients' personal insurance, and financial status.
- Utilizes knowledge of medical terminology and procedures in assisting patients in completion of required forms with referral of patients to appropriate sources for further information regarding any questions regarding their care as appropriate.
- Maintains awareness of Hospital and Departmental operational standards which impact on position responsibilities.
- Maintains own proficiency in performing position responsibilities through in-services and other self-directed learning activities.
