Part-time non-benefited Fall Prevention Health Educator

JOB SUMMARY

Represents the Division of Community Health Services in countywide health education health promotion and risk reduction programs. This position will be working in the falls prevention program teaching Stepping On. This employee will be working as part of the Injury Prevention team in the Community Health Division. Training as a Stepping On facilitator will be required upon hire if not already a trained and licensed as a facilitator. This position requires the employee to travel throughout Salt Lake County to teach classes as part of the Stepping On program and will be working with many community partners as well as community members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Health Education Health Science Public Health Community Health or Health with an emphasis in Health Education; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Due to the nature of this position the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

A valid Drivers License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. A valid Drivers License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a county vehicle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develops plans and implements health education behavior risk reduction and outreach programs.
• Assesses health education needs and priorities of various populations using appropriate assessment tools.
• Develops conducts and evaluates the effectiveness of health education / health promotion programs.
• Creates marketing and educational materials; promotes events through various marketing methods.
• Acts as a resource providing links to communities.
• Creates and implements policy focused on population-based behavior change.
• Develops and prepares required reports and documents.
• Collaborates with internal and community agencies to accomplish stated objectives.
• Acts as a representative of the agency and program.

TEMPORARY POSITIONS :

An At Will FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month.

Are at will employees who may be terminated for any reason without notice and without a pre-termination hearing.

Additional Information

This position works 20 hours per week during normal business hours of Monday through Friday 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. While hours are flexible occasional evening and / or weekends a couple times per year.
