Reviews and approves water and sewer construction plans to ensurecompliance with Water Utilities Minimum Engineering Standards. Prepares and distributes Section correspondence and documentation to developers, consultants, and contractors. Ensures that permits are coordinated with agencies involved. Reviews construction plans, plats for compliance, and cost estimates. Reviews project data for accuracy. Informs developers and their agents of technical and procedural deficiencies by letter, conference, and telephone. Works independently on the technical aspects of work activities. Work is performed under the direction of a superior, and is reviewed in progress and upon completion. May be assigned various intermediate technical duties as determined by the area of assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification supplemented by a certificate of completion for a vocational training program OR two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester / 90-quarter hours) in Drafting, Engineering, Data Processing, or Computer Science; minimum of two (2) years of experience in drafting, engineering, water and / or sewer utilities work. Equivalencies : Related Bachelor’s Degree; unrelated Bachelor’s / related Associate’s Degree and one (1) year of related experience;unrelated Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of related experience; graduation from high school / equivalent and four (4) years of related experience.

PREFERENCE FOR ONE (1) YEAR OF EXPERIENCE IN / WITH : Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and / or construction projects; utility design using AutoCAD; water and sewer utilities work.
