DESCRIPTION
The Professor, Health Information Technology is a full-time, 9-month faculty position responsible to the Department Chair, Health Information Technology / Health Administrative Services and Dean, School of Nursing & Health Sciences. Professors provide classroom instruction and college service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Providing instruction in the classroom, laboratory or clinical setting for Health information technology and other Department of Health Administrative courses that the instructor is credentialed to teach
- Scheduling, maintaining, coordinating and evaluating didactic and clinical education of health information technology and health administrative students
- Counseling and advising students regarding career goals, program requirements and job placement
- Assisting in the evaluation and revision of program policies, curriculum and examinations
- Serving on College committees, and complying with all policies and regulations which govern and affect the College
- Performing other duties as assigned by dean, professional and technical programs and instructor / program coordinator and department chair, health information technology and health administrative services
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education / Experience
Bachelor's of Science degreeMust have AHIMA Credentials—RHIA or RHIT or CCSKnowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and reimbursement methodologiesPreferred Education / Experience
Master's of Science degreeTeaching experienceTeaching experience in a CAHEA approval health information technology programSUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
