The City of Peoria seeks to hire a Group Exercise Instructor in the Parks & Recreation – Rio Vista Recreation Center to plan, organize, and implement exercise instruction for multiple group fitness classes, ranging in variety, intensity levels and class formats. This includes counting, cueing, organizing choreography and much more. Candidates must be able to instruct multiple fitness levels and ensure the safety of all members in the class. The Group Fitness Instructor will act as a role model and resource for all recreation center patrons and provide excellent customer service by exemplifying a positive attitude and exceeding the needs of patrons.

The hiring rate for this position is $21.91.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to :

• Instruct patrons on effective workout methods, explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, identify different muscle groups being used and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscle groups.
• Prepare appropriate equipment, music, and handouts.
• Assist patrons, answer questions, and maintain a positive exercise experience for all members.
• Ensure safety standards are met and the department and facility policies are adhered to.
• Keep abreast of current trends in fields of responsibility.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
