The IT Networks Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day operational support of all university-owned network and voice services. This includes but is not limited to VMware, Windows / Linux Server OS, routers, switches, wireless LAN, and Voice over IP.

Position Summary

The Network Analyst is a collaborative, quick learning professional responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of the University's network services. As a core member of the Network Operations Team, you will monitor systems, respond to incidents, and partner with stakeholders across campus to ensure critical services are available 24×7. The role blends traditional network analysis with modern automation, API driven management, and scripting to drive efficiency and reliability. The position requires participation in off-hours or weekend work to support incidents and scheduled change windows.

This position requires employees to work onsite.

Essential Functions

  • Proactively monitor wired, wireless, voice, and cloud-based network infrastructure, identify performance or security anomalies, and resolve or escalate issues promptly.
  • Work closely with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and peer IT teams to understand requirements, coordinate changes, and communicate status updates in a clear, customer-focused manner.
  • Develop, maintain, and document Python scripts, REST / NETCONF calls, and Ansible / Terraform playbooks to automate provisioning, configuration compliance, and routine operational tasks.
  • Participate in ITIL-aligned processes, investigate incidents to root cause, create and implement change requests, including during scheduled maintenance windows that may occur nights or weekends.
  • Produce and maintain accurate network topology diagrams, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to support efficient operations and knowledge transfer.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging networking and automation technologies, share lessons learned, and contribute to the team culture of innovation, inclusivity, and "One DU" customer service excellence.
  • Ability to install / terminate copper and fiber cabling, rack network equipment, and lift up to 50 lbs. following safety standards.

    • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, information systems, computer engineering, telecommunications, or a related field
  • 1 or more years of IT and / or business / industry work experience

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Analyst-level Certifications in Voice, Routing & Switching preferred.
  • Requires exposure to multiple, diverse networking technologies
  • Experience supporting converged infrastructure

    • Working Environment

  • The work environment is a university with cyclical periods of increased workloads, with the possibility of moderate to high-stress levels.
  • The unit is one of several working collaboratively and cooperatively in a team-based organization.
  • The position may require working irregular hours, including early mornings, weekends, and late evenings.
  • The work environment consists of surroundings with moderate noise levels and frequent contact with electrical devices.

    • Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl under desks / tables to troubleshoot cables and network connections; talk or hear; walk up flights of stairs.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.

    • Work Schedule

    This position requires employees to work onsite, Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. evenings & weekends as needed.

    Salary Grade Number

    The salary grade for the position is 10.

    Salary Range

    The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $65,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
