- Ensure the safe execution of all maintenance and work-related activities.
- Promote a safe work environment and habits by personally exhibiting the necessary behaviors.
- Direct, coach, and schedule the maintenance team in the most effective, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Interview, select, and train maintenance personnel.
- Prepare and conduct performance evaluations; carry out disciplinary actions as required.
- Evaluate equipment for operational safety, efficiencies, and functionality.
- Ensure compliance with machine guarding, LOTO, and other compliance requirements.
- Ensure all production related equipment is maintained in proper operating condition by overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance as well as diagnostic and repair operations as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts which will include mentoring and training staff in Lean principles and practices (Standard work, 5S, Kaizen, value streams, waste elimination, problem solving methods, etc.); collecting and using data to drive measurable improvements; and leading kaizen events.
- Champion, with the rest of the leadership team, those actions required to perform at high levels of success in Safety, Quality, Productivity & Delivery objectives.
- Assess, justify, and prioritize plant capital needs.
- Utilize project management skills to successfully bring projects to completion within budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred, or 7+ years of applicable work experience.3+ years working in a lean manufacturing environment.Proficiency with various machine control systems including PLC’s, servo drives, VFD’s, etc.Proficiency with Drafting software and MS Office software.Experience with Industrial motor controls.Team-oriented, accountable to peer team and managed team, willingness to seek improvements with team.Attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Servant leader mentality.Problem solver and willingness to mentor others in solving problems.Models VT’s Mission, Vision, and Values.All team members are expected to follow the Code of Conduct to the highest standards as well as to adhere to the Attendance Policy of VT Industries.Physical Requirements
Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional moderate lifting (50 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to climb up or down ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and / or hands and arms. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. Ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
