Outreach Coordinator (8869EXT)

Description

Summary :   The Outreach Coordinator works closely with the Program Director of the Beacon Program to support the program’s community outreach activities to forge relationships with youth who are chronically absent or have dropped out of school and persuade them to engage in Beacon programming and in school.

Location :   1257 Ogden Avenue

Hourly Rate Range :   $22.00-$25.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement an effective outreach plan for communicating with students, parents, families, the school community and other stakeholders about the Beacon Program.
• During the summer, will supervise Teen Talk and Play and recruit middle and high school youth. Coordinate with Activity Specialist to maintain Community Garden and Food Pantry. Supervise SYEP participants.
• Engage hard-to-reach youth and young adults who do not participate in afterschool or community center programs.
• Identify, develop, and maintain contacts with community stakeholders, include community-based agency leaders, community social services providers, neighborhood associations, residents, and others to promote the program.
• Assist in the development of electronic and print communication materials such as list-serves, flyers, brochures, mailing lists, directories, and other related outreach materials.
• Conduct outreach and coordinate information gathering / sharing for participants on high school, college, and vocational opportunities.
• Provide general assistance with administrative tasks such as follow-up telephone calls, mailings, photocopying, and faxes.
• Handle special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
• Attend department and program meetings as directed.
• Other duties as assigned

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work :

This is a full-Time non-exempt position : Monday to Saturday flex hours between the hours of 1 : 00 PM to 9 : 00 PM. During summer July and August flex hours between the hours 8 AM to 6 PM Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

Education and / or experience required :

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in the field, bi-lingual English / Spanish helpful.
