Houston-Galveston Area Council Job

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What Will I Be Doing?

  • Evaluate consumer applications to determine their eligibility
  • Review and process contractor consumer service delivery authorizations
  • Review and process contractor invoices for payment
  • Track contractor monthly performance and monitor annual
  • Assist with contractor training
  • Update and maintain consumer information and service delivery data in the State information management system
  • Maintain consumer and contractor digital records
  • Maintain regular communication with community contractors
  • Traveling within 13 county region approximately 10% of the time

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task and handle a high volume of work
  • Must show attention to detail and the ability to competently complete work tasks
  • Ability to resolve contractor issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Communicate verbally and in writing
  • Knowledgeable of human services programs, preferred

    • Do You Have

  • Bachelor's degree with an internship in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
  • Less than 1 year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
