About The Position
As the Safety Manager, you will be responsible for providing regional oversight and project safety leadership of all aspects of occupational safety management. This includes planning, implementing, managing and maintaining comprehensive environmental safety and health (ES&H) policies and procedures on assigned regional projects across all site locations. You will guide project teams, subcontractors, safety teams and trade partners with training on health and safety programs and ensure compliance with all customer, industry, local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
Day in the Life
- Creates, implements, and communicates high‑quality safety and claims strategies, programs, policies and procedures designed to assure compliance with the most updated rules and regulations of federal, state and local agencies. Evaluates the performance of company safety and claims programs annually, using trend analysis and progress metrics.
- Works closely with senior management to direct the development of an effective safety strategy, assess and mitigate strategic and operational safety and security‑related threats / risks, manage crises, claims and incidents, and safeguard the organization.
- Advises project management and safety leadership on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions; holds employees accountable to company safety policies and regulatory compliance, providing coaching on disciplinary safety issues.
- Directs and participates in safety inspections and audits of job sites to identify hazards, recognize employees who conduct themselves safely, and promote safety best practices throughout the company.
- Provides oversight of DOT regulatory compliance, including driver qualification files, DOT drug testing and driver safety; manages OSHA, MSHA, DOT and other regulatory inspections and follow‑up procedures.
- Utilizes EHS Insight safety software in collaboration with project teams to manage incident events, training, safety audits, driver MVR documents, drug testing documentation and security backgrounds; analyzes and shares indicator data with leadership and project teams.
- Monitors claim investigations, medical reports and partnerships with claims adjusters and legal counsel to ensure successful claim resolutions; monitors records for occupational injuries, medical treatment and light duty situations to ensure quality practices.
- Evaluates field and staff training needs; develops employee safety training programs and documentation; provides continuous safety education and training on hazard recognition, safe work methods and company policies.
- Provides leadership and support for all safety software systems, ensuring training, implementation and safety analysis are conducted; maintains all safety documentation in the Safety Management System and ensures all safety programs and OSHA requirements are followed.
- Leads major incident responses, including incident command, investigation and media spokesperson responsibilities; partners with the claims manager to investigate incidents, identify hazards, training issues or fraudulent claims, and to take corrective action.
- Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with all stakeholders and provides hazard analysis and safe work method pre‑planning for field employees and project managers.
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules including OSHA; stays informed of new electrical and safety codes, techniques and practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in safety, environmental health, construction safety management or a related field.Minimum 3‑5 years of work experience in building and electrical construction.In‑depth knowledge of construction and general industry safety standards, including OSHA, MSHA, DOT, Worker’s Compensation, NFPA 70E and related regulations.Excellent computer, communication and training skills; strong written and verbal communication.Basic project management experience and understanding of the project life cycle.Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems with critical thinking, detail orientation and drive timely, appropriate solutions with self‑initiative.Strong and professional team player with effective collaboration, organizational and relationship‑building skills.Travel
Travel to project sites is required and may include temporary relocation for the duration of the project.Salary Range
$105,000 – $127,200 annually, based on experience and qualifications.Benefits
