We are seeking a Certified Coding Specialist proficient in EPIC software to join our team on a temporary basis, with the opportunity for permanent placement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records for outpatient and inpatient services using ICD-10-CM and HCPCS / CPT coding guidelines. This role involves coding for various departments including Laboratory, Radiology, and outpatient surgeries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and medical necessity.
Responsibilities :
- Code outpatient encounters across departments such as Laboratory, WLX Laboratory, Radiology, WLX Radiology, and CC Radiology using ICD-10-CM and HCPCS / CPT coding guidelines.
- Assign codes for inpatient charts, including outpatient surgeries, inpatient OB, and general inpatient coding.
- Add professional fees to outpatient surgery codes as required.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians’ offices and billing departments to resolve coding-related issues and ensure accurate reimbursement.
- Conduct follow-up with physicians to clarify diagnoses and ensure completeness of medical records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Requirements :
Certification as a Medical Coding Specialist (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or equivalent) required.Proficiency in EPIC software is essential.Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS / CPT coding principles.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers and staff.Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
