Job Summary
Each shift, you may be assigned to one of the three UCSF campuses : Parnassus, Mission Bay, or Mount Zion, which may include responsibilities in the Emergency Department. After completing the necessary training, you may take on positions such as a floor Patient Care Assistant (PCA), safety attendant, or Video Monitoring Technician.
0.9 FTE - Three Shifts Each Week
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) receives daily assignments and functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to carry out direct patient care responsibilities. All patient care team members act to meet patient needs and learn new skills to achieve quality patient care and customer service.
Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, other staff, and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to age-specific needs and cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $30.51 - $38.15 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The Central Resource Group (CRG) comprises a dedicated team of approximately 400 staff members who enhance UCSF’s clinical operations by supplying staffing resources to adult units at Parnassus (PAR), Mission Bay (MB), and Mount Zion (MZ). We take pride in our vital role in delivering outstanding care to critically and acutely ill adult patients.
Our diverse team features Critical Care Nurses, Medical / Surgical Nurses, Transport Nurses, Discharge Lounge Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, Safety Attendants, Video Monitor Technicians, and Hospital Unit Service Coordinators.
We are further supported by our Nursing Administrative Office, which includes Hospital Supervisors, Staffing Coordinators, Administrative Supervisors and Analysts, Managers, and our Unit Director.
Together, we strive to deliver seamless, high-quality care and positively influence patient outcomes across UCSF’s adult units.
