Position Overview :
Oasis Clinical Trials are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as an On-Call IV Access Specialist , with a strong focus on placing IVs in patients with difficult venous access. This per diem role supports our clinical teams by responding to on-call needs for IV insertions and vascular access in both scheduled and urgent situations. The ideal candidate is experienced in working with patients who have complex medical or behavioral histories, including those with a history of substance use.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide timely and skilled IV access services to patients with difficult veins, including those with prior IV drug use, chronic illness, or poor vasculature.
- Utilize advanced vein-finding techniques and tools as needed (e.g., ultrasound guidance, vein illuminators).
- Maintain proper documentation of IV insertions, complications, and patient responses per institutional protocols.
- Collaborate with medical staff, research teams, and site coordinators to ensure patients are properly prepped for treatment or clinical trial procedures.
- Monitor IV sites for infiltration, infection, and other complications; troubleshoot and manage line issues as needed.
- Educate patients on IV site care and fluid management if applicable.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and nursing best practices.
- Maintain readiness to be dispatched to different locations based on patient or site needs.
- Participate in ongoing clinical skills development, training sessions, or mock scenarios when required.
Required Qualifications :
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nevada, in good standing.Direct IV placement experience , preferably in emergency, ICU, infusion, or clinical research settings.Demonstrated ability to access veins in patients with difficult vascular anatomy , including those with a history of substance use or repeated venipuncture .Proficient in peripheral IV insertion and troubleshooting.Preferred Qualifications :
Certification in IV therapy, phlebotomy, or vascular access (e.g., VA-BC , PICC certification , etc.).Ultrasound-guided IV placement training and experience is highly desirable.Previous experience in clinical research , infusion therapy, or working with underserved patient populations.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on compassionate patient care.Ability to document efficiently using EMR systems or research databases.
