The Roadway Striping Technician is responsible for operating various types of pavement marking equipment related to long line striping on roads and highways. Stripers will have layout knowledge and the ability to read and interpreting roadway striping plans and specifications. Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment into and out of company trucks, maintaining safety equipment required for each job and assisting with lane closures and set-up of traffic control devices. Long line roadway stripers prepare surfaces for striping by cleaning and ensuring roads and highways are free from debris and the markings on the roads and highways are applied according to specifications. The position requires traveling and hotel accommodations are paid for by Hog. Travelers receive per diem allowance and work hours will range from 40-65 hours per week, with lots of room for overtime. This position requires the team member to work primarily night shift schedules with occasional required days and flexibility as scheduling varies from one job to the next.
What You'll Do :
- Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
- Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds running switches on long line striping machines.
- Equipment Operation - Operating hand / power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
- Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
- Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
- Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
- Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
- Communicating clearly in English- both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
- Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and / or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees
- Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance / drug testing
