So Cal Communications Group Inc. is seeking an experienced and analytical Electrical Estimator to pioneer our internal estimating function. As one our official estimators, you’ll shape the systems, processes, and tools we use to competitively bid on high-profile public works and commercial electrical projects. Key Responsibilities
Analyze project drawings, specs, and proposals to prepare accurate cost estimates.
Procure and farm additional leads and clients beyond what is provided by the company.
Attend and represent our company at various social and networking events.
Perform complete material takeoffs and labor cost assessments for electrical systems.
Manage vendor quotes, conduct Go / No-Go bid evaluations, and oversee submission timelines.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks to understand project scope and constraints.
Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to obtain competitive pricing.
Align bid packages with project objectives, construction methods, and code requirements.
Identify and mitigate estimating-related risks.
Refine and build out company estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
Track market trends and pricing benchmarks; contribute to strategic business development.
Maintain organized estimate archives and participate in post-bid evaluations.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in electrical estimating, ideally on public works or commercial projects.
Deep understanding of commercial electrical systems — both low and high voltage.
Experience using estimating software (e.g., Accubid, BuildingConnected) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong reading comprehension of electrical drawings, specs, and design documents.
Highly analytical, organized, and self-directed with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve company objectives.
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent industry experience accepted.
Experience at a general contractor or electrical contractor is highly preferred.
Must be able to pass a background check. Clean driving record required
