Westchester Country Day School, a leading PK–12 independent school located in High Point, NC, dedicated to academic excellence and whole-child development, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Communications Assistant who will also serve as Technology Teacher for Grades K–5. This hybrid position requires a passion for technology integration in elementary education and storytelling that builds engagement within the school community. This position collaborates with both the Director of Communications and Marketing and the Head of Lower School to produce compelling content that reflects the school's mission, brand and programs and to deliver technology curriculum and initiatives for young learners. K–5 Technology Instruction (Lower School) : Technology education – Introduce students to age-appropriate coding, robotics, digital citizenship, and productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace, VEX IQ Robotics) Lesson delivery – Design and implement engaging technology lessons for grades K–5 that support digital literacy, responsible technology use, and creative problem-solving. Team teaching – Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate technology into core subjects and interdisciplinary projects. Technology support – Maintain and manage technology equipment, including laptops and classroom robotics kits. Troubleshoot technology, as needed. Lifelong learning – Stay current with emerging educational technologies and recommend tools and practices that enhance student learning. Communications Assistant (PK–12) : Social media management – Plan, create and publish engaging content across the school’s social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn). Maintain a content calendar and monitor trends to optimize engagement. Content creation – Capture and edit multimedia content (photos, videos, graphics, audio) for use on social media and in digital and print materials. Ensure all content aligns with the school’s visual identity and messaging. Organize, tag and maintain digital media files. Team support – Attend school events to document through photography, video and short-form written content (captions, quotes, recaps). Support the advancement team at special events and provide backup for email newsletters, web updates and emergency communications as needed. A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, education, instructional technology, or a related field is required. Candidates who have a master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related discipline and / or experience teaching in an elementary-aged classroom / enrichment setting will be strongly considered. Candidates must have knowledge of educational technology tools, digital learning platforms, coding and robotics, along with digital literacy and citizenship. Candidates must have experience managing social media or creating content for an organization or brand as part of an integrated marketing communications strategy. Strong writing and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt to a particular brand voice, institutional style and audience are preferred.
