Utility Operator

Pay Rate : $20.00 / hr (W-2)

Shift : 3rd Shift | 11 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM | 37.5 hours per week (includes 30-min lunch)

Shift Differential : 13% applies when working 3rd shift

Interview : Required (phone / Webex)

Summary

The Utility Operator supports manufacturing operations by handling replenishment tasks, allowing production operators to focus on value-added work. This role ensures raw materials, packaging, and finished goods are moved efficiently throughout the facility, maintains stock levels, and keeps production areas supplied and organized. Utility Operators also assist with initial packaging of finished goods and staging materials for the next production steps.

Key Responsibilities

Replenish raw materials, packaging supplies, and cores at production areas.

Use forklift and pallet jacks to move raw and finished materials, load / unload trucks, and stage items for production.

Manage inventory through QAD system (barcode scanning before and after product movement).

Assist with machine changeovers and production line transitions.

Restock packaging areas and notify supervisors when supplies need reordering.

Weigh and dispose of scrap bins as needed.

Move finished goods to shipping areas or warehouse for next steps.

Participate in weekly cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy.

Assist with receiving / shipping tasks such as unloading trucks or crating finished goods.

Detect and minimize safety hazards by following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Knowledge & Skills

Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.

Skilled in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and small hand tools.

Ability to read work orders, follow standard operating procedures, and use computer inventory systems.

Knowledge of materials, products, and tooling in assigned areas to anticipate production needs.

Strong attention to detail, safety, and accuracy in handling goods.

Education & Training

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Training time : 3–6 months to become proficient and independent.

Accountability

Works under general supervision with assignments given orally or in writing.

Expected to work both independently and as part of a team.

Must exercise caution when handling materials and equipment to prevent injury or damage.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Regularly handles items up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lifts up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and kneeling in tight spaces.

May climb ladders and work from heights when required.

Exposure to moving machinery, moderate noise, heat, fumes, or airborne dust.

PPE required (gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses).
