ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision of the NPD Engineering Manager, the NPD Design Engineer is responsible for new product development design from concept inception through product validation. NPD Design Engineers will work with Product Management Teams and cross functional design development teams to deliver innovative new products for Astec.
This position will focus on Mobile Plants. These are self-powered and self-contained rock crushing and screening plants mounted on a tracked platform for mobility. These plants incorporate on board power systems, hydraulics, electrical controls and mechanical systems including drives, crushers, feeders, screens and conveyors.
Design Engineers can be asked to travel to develop business relationships with customers, dealers, and suppliers. They may also participate in product focus groups to gain critical customer application and design suggestions to assist in the development of the product lines.
Applicants will report to one of the following locations : Yankton, SD; Eugene, OR; Sterling, IL; or Mequon, WI.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing. Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and / or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
