PRIMARY FUNCTION :

Fixed wing pilot in high-performance jet aircraft (e.g., T-38, WB-57).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain the highest level of skill, proficiency, and knowledge to support NASA aviation requirements.
  • Maintain all required currencies in each assigned aircraft.
  • Ensure each flight is completed efficiently, safely, and productively.
  • Comply with all NASA and AOD aircraft procedural requirements.
  • Utilize Crew Resource Management procedures effectively in multi-crew aircraft operations.
  • Perform instructor duties as assigned, ensuring information is accurate and effectively presented.
  • Comply with safety and occupational health standards, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Identify hazards and report unsafe acts and procedures.
  • Support investigation and resolution of anomalies and mishaps as assigned.
  • Participate in safety inspections and training.
  • Perform other related duties as required to meet organizational needs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional software.
  • Ability to accurately enter data into databases.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work with management and staff, including crew members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to follow established processes.
  • Strong customer service skills, including active listening and prompt follow-up.
  • Decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to justify decisions and communicate issues to management.
  • Ability to understand and apply corporate policies and procedures.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask.

    • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; major in engineering, physical science, life science, or mathematics preferred. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours pilot-in-command or first pilot flight time in high-performance, ejection seat-equipped jet aircraft, including at least 500 hours in jets with =3,000 pounds thrust per engine, capable of at least 6 G's.
  • Formation flying experience required.
  • Experience as a flight instructor in high-performance jet aircraft required.
  • Flight test experience preferred.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating required; Airline Transport Pilot Certificate preferred.
  • Qualified in multiple aircraft types preferred.
  • Ability to deploy domestically and internationally for up to 45 days.
  • Experience supporting NASA / DoD contracts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
  • FAA First Class Medical or military equivalent required.
