SUMMARY OF POSITION :

The South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC) is seeking a skilled and proactive Windows System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows-based environments, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining secure, efficient, and reliable systems. This role is critical in supporting our infrastructure, ensuring uptime, and implementing best practices across our IT operations.

This position works closely with the MIS Manager and Network Engineer to plan and deploy new systems for the agency and troubleshoot and remediate software, hardware, and network problems. This position also serves as an escalation point for the HelpDesk team. The ideal candidate will be organized and able to work with minimal supervision. This position also develops documentation for the HelpDesk team and reference materials for the agency; good communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders are a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server environments (2016 / 2019 / 2022).
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file / print services.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
  • Implement and maintain security policies and procedures.
  • Support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, vSphere).
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to support enterprise applications and services.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Provide Tier 2 / 3 support for escalated technical issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Windows Server OS (2016 / 2019 / 2022)
  • Active Directory and Group Policy Management
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • DNS, DHCP, SMB, NFS, and NTFS permissions
  • Virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere)
  • Patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM)
  • Monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios)
  • Backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam)
  • Endpoint protection and antivirus solutions
  • ITIL-based service management and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceDesk Place)
  • DESIRED SKILLS :

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA , MCSE , AZ-104 ,).
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory , Microsoft Intune , and Microsoft 365 administration .
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., Azure , AWS , Google Cloud Platform ).
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration projects .
  • Proficiency with configuration management and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Ansible , Puppet , Terraform ).
  • Experience with CI / CD pipelines and DevOps practices .
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust security models and identity management solutions .
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA , SOX , ISO 27001 , NIST ).
  • Exposure to enterprise storage solutions (e.g., NetApp , Dell EMC , HPE ).
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM) and endpoint management platforms.
  • Strong documentation skills using tools like Confluence , SharePoint , or Notion .
  • Ability to lead or participate in IT projects , including planning, execution, and post-implementation review.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Computer Information Technology, or related field, AND 3+ years of hands-on experience in Windows System Administration.
