SFILEN Coordinator

Position : Program Coordinator, SF Immigrant Legal & Education Network

Program : Immigrant Rights and Community Empowerment (IRCE)

Reports to : Associate Director of Community Engagement

Compensation : $50-60k annually, Full-Time (1FTE), commensurate with experience. Program Description :

The Immigrant Rights and Community Empowerment Program (IRCE), a program of Mission Action, was established in 2018 to improve the impact of immigrant rights work in San Francisco through coalition building and infusing the coalitions and their work with a transformative / healing justice lens. IRCE provides leadership and coordination to the San Francisco Immigrant Legal and Education Network (SFILEN) and the San Francisco Rapid Response Network (SFRRN).

SFILEN's mission is to promote full access to social services, direct legal services, civic engagement, legalization, freedom of movement, and reunification with family and community, for all immigrants and their families regardless of their immigration status. SFILEN works to achieve this mission of immigrant rights through building grassroots leadership, providing free immigration legal services and comprehensive legal assistance, promoting community education, and organizing to empower the immigrant community. As an immigrant centered Network, SFILEN focuses on our work locally, learning from other organizations nationally, and with a critical perspective on how international political and economic trends impact our communities. We seek to fulfill our vision by working across racial communities and across social movements.

Position Description :

The SFILEN Program Coordinator leads the programmatic and day-to-day operation of the San Francisco Immigrant Legal & Education Network, which is comprised of thirteen community-based organizations, including Mission Action. This position oversees grant management, facilitation, community partnerships, and advocacy for the network, and supervises of the Lead Dispatcher & IRCE Program Assistant, also employed by Mission Action.

Key Responsibilities :

Program & Event Coordination (40%)

  • Coordinate three separate monthly meetings by preparing the agenda, coordinating logistics, and note taking.
  • Lead facilitation of monthly meetings to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Support addressing questions or concerns raised by partner organizations including reporting, billing, and miscellaneous items.
  • Coordinate educational workshops as requests come in through google forms.
  • Project plan for larger annual events (Immigrant Family Day and International Migrants' Day).
  • Coordinate development of new tools and resources for internal or external use.
  • Support coalition building amongst network partners by coordinating activities, events, or trainings.

Grant Monitoring & Compliance (30%)

  • Ensure grant requirements are reflected in project work plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • On a monthly basis, track the deliverables for each of the 13 agencies of the network, through data entry, processing invoices, and compiling verbal and visual reports for funders.
  • Manage projects with multiple deliverables and deadlines based on government and private funding.
  • Support and facilitate discussions around fundraising and diversifying funds for the Network.
  • Support in the development of funding proposals for program and coordinate grassroots budget advocacy activities as needed to ensure sustainability of current public funding.
  • Administration (30%)

  • Manage the development, implementation, and marketing of program functions.
  • Coordinate multilingual interpretation services for meetings and events.
  • Manage and update SFILEN digital and printed publications.
  • Communicate regularly with coalition members, via phone and email.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned .
  • Other Organizational Duties :

  • Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgement and serving the best interests of the agency and the community
  • Work within the framework of the agency's mission, vision, values, theory of change, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, trauma-informed work, and language-justice.
  • Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities around issues of affordable housing, land use, and / or immigrant & worker rights; familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco, highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with diverse constituents. Comfort with working in a multiracial , multi-lingual, and multigenerational coalition space.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, trauma informed services and programming, and managing volunteer programs is a plus!
  • 2-3 years of experience coordinating a project, program or multi-partner engagement (collaborative / network / coalition / partnership / taskforce) or equivalent experience in a related position.
  • Strong administrative background : attention to detail, organized, and has problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently to manage priorities and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate logistics, project timelines, policies and procedures, and decision-making processes to a diverse group of individuals.
  • Proactive and takes initiative, once masters a skillset seeks additional learning opportunities.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Computer skills : familiarity with Word, Excel, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other basic online and digital organizing tools.
  • Familiarity with San Francisco immigrant rights and / or existing relationships with network organizations preferred but not required.
  • Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred, including ability to provide written translation of documents.
