You will work independently in various acute and critical care settings, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to recommend appropriate treatment plans. Supervisory / Management Structure
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduated from a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the American Medical Association or a similar authority, or be eligible for a license in South Carolina, or be a senior student graduating within the next three months.
Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses
Candidates must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina or be eligible for licensure in the state, or be a senior student graduating within the next three months. BLS certification is required. NBRC credentials must be maintained. Employees hired before June 2016 may have the option to be a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
Individuals hired after June 2016 must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam at the Registered Therapist cut score and take the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation. Failure to pass the exam within this timeframe will result in termination from Prisma Health.
NRP and PALS certifications are required for work in the Children's Hospital, specifically before independent work in the NICU and PICU.
Additional Skills and Experiences
Ability to work effectively within a team environment is essential. Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills are required.
