The Licensed Practical Nurse, under general supervision, provides general
nursing care for patients following established standards and practices.
Maintains efficient patient flow, assists with patient care, i.E. Vitals,
assessments and procedures. Maintains physicians schedule and performs
miscellaneous tasks assigned by physicians.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid physician during examination and procedures.
- Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Perform EKG and oximetry readings as required by physician.
- Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
- Initiate IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with LPN / LVN state nurse practice act.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Graduate from an accredited program for practical nursing education.0-3 years’experience required, preferably in an oncology environment.Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 3 months of hire.Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.Phlebotomy experience preferred.Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer is preferred.Demonstrate knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.Demonstrate awareness of community resources available to patients and assist with referrals if necessary.Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
