JOB SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The Medical Technical Assistant 1 provides nursing support to Internal Medicine residents and attending physicians. This position helps ensure correct aseptic / sterile procedures are followed and performs invasive procedures as defined by nursing statutes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
• Assists physicians and residents with procedures and patient visits.
• Obtains vitals and brief health history.
• Assists with sending lab orders.
• Administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• Enters quality data into electronic medical records and assists with coding and billing.
• Performs telephone triage according to established protocols.
• Schedules referrals to specialist as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION : High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE : Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office. (Experience as a nurse assistant desired. Knowledge of medical billing preferred. Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.)

LICENSE / CERTIFICATION : Current licensure as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or CCMA in the state of Tennessee required . (COPY OF LICENSE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
