Overview

Job Title : Technical Writer I

Location : 100% onsite at one of 3 locations :

Delta College (1961 Delta Rd, University Center, MI 48710)

Horizons Conference Center (6200 State St, Saginaw, MI 48603)

Hemlock Solar Plant (1885 N Orr Rd, Hemlock, MI 48626)

The workers will work 40 hours a week from one of those locations.

Duration : 5+ Months Contract with high possibilities of extension

Hours : 8am to 5pm

Interview Process :

Teams Meeting - Manager will extend an offer from this one interview.

Compliance

This is an ITAR facility. Candidates must comply with DOD / ITAR requirements and be US citizens or nationals.

Required skills

2 years of experience as a Tech Writer for a manufacturing company.

Candidates must be able to hit the ground running writing SOPs.

Associates preferred

Responsibilities

Develop, write, edit, and format technical documentation that includes process manuals, system specifications, guideline documents, and procedure manuals.

Collaborate with teams across departments to gather and interpret information about their documentation needs.

Standardize content across platforms and media to ensure consistency and clarity.

Review and edit existing documentation to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standards.

Work closely with project teams to understand product details and develop appropriate content.

Convert complex technical terminologies into user-friendly language to ensure understandability.

Conduct periodic reviews and revisions of documents to ensure that the updates and changes in the processes are captured accurately.

Education & Experience

An associate degree preferred in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field OR currently enrolled in one of these programs at an accredited college / university.

2 years of experience as a Technical Writer for a manufacturing company

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.

Proficient in using MS Office and other documentation tools.

Strong attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience working with cross-functional teams.
