CUSTODIAN

Whittier Early Childhood Center

1st Shift

7 : 30am - 4 : 00pm

Reports to : Building Principal and Maintenance Supervisor

Job Objectives :

Performs custodial and routine maintenance duties to protect and preserve the school building grounds equipment and furnishings. Maintains high standards to ensure that a safe and orderly environment is maintained for educational and recreational activities. Uses each contact with the public as an opportunity to promote a positive impression of the school district.

Minimum Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Post-secondary technical / trade school graduate is preferred.
• Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g. a negative tuberculosis test etc.).
• Provides documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
• School or closely related custodial experience is required.
• Ability to be self-directed and takes the initiative to evaluate deficiencies set priorities organize and complete tasks independently.
• Ability to comply with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Public Employer Risk Reduction Act (PERRA) regulations.
• Knowledge of maintenance / custodial supplies and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor electrical carpentry plumbing and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on lawn and snow removal equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility :

Under the direction of the building principal and / or maintenance supervisor : provides instructions and communicates expectations to assigned substitutes seasonal / temporary employees and job trainees.
