Revenue Technician
This position is Revenue Technician within the City Clerk Department. Responsible for issuing and enforcing City privilege licenses (business, alcohol, contractor), processing license fees and determining classification a business falls under for licensing purposes. Responsible for performing collection and administrative tasks involved with City administered taxes (sales and use tax, rental tax, lodging tax, liquor tax, gasoline tax and cigarette tax). Responsible for input of contractor licensing information into New World System (NWS) and resolving any licensing issues that affect the issuance of building or trade permits. All work is performed in accordance with City ordinances and related State laws.
Examples of responsibilities include :
- Issuing and enforcing city privilege licenses.
- Determining the type of privilege license that needs to be purchased by taxpayer and computing fees due.
- Assisting the public with obtaining a new or renewal privilege license.
- Collecting and administrating certain taxes.
- Maintaining departmental files and records on taxpayers.
- Inputting license and tax data into the Delta computer system.
- Inputting contractor licensing information into New World Systems (NWS) for building and trade permit issuance.
- Performing other work as required by the Deputy Revenue Officer.

High School Diploma (or GED) required.Minimum five (5) years of clerical or any related experience.Data entry experience required.Supplemental information includes :
Experience receiving, receipting and posting figures and other data.Strong computer skills (Word, Excel and Permitting & Business License software).Ability to use windows based programs and other similar software to include New World Systems (NWS) effectively.Ability to learn quickly and follow city code for issuing and renewing business licenses and collection of proper fees under the license schedules.Strong interpersonal skills dealing with the public in a friendly and courteous manner.Skill in dealing with people under stressful conditions, especially when working with customers to resolve disputes or complaints.Ability to remain calm and organized under stress and in time sensitive situations.Skill in typing, filing, photocopying, faxing and other office functions.Skill at bookkeeping to account for taxes and licenses, and petty cash.Strong writing and verbal communication skills.Ability to take and give instruction and direction.Strong project management, planning, organization and prioritization skills.Ability to multi-task with a high degree of accuracy and interruption.Physical capabilities include :
This position's physical requirements involve sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.Ability to communicate well in the written word and verbally and orally with the public.Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.Ability to work long hours when required.Must be able to drive an automobile independently.Must have a full range of physical motion to utilize copy machine, calculator, fax machine, computer, filing cabinets, etc.
