Job Responsibilities
Lead aero / thermal modeling of centrifugal compressors (streamline methods and CFD ) and contribute to CAD / CAE design iterations to meet performance and reliability targets.
Define and execute compressor and chiller test plans in DTC laboratories; oversee setup, test execution, safety / compliance, and continuous method improvements.
Reduce and analyze test data; generate clear reports, performance ranges / maps, and rating program inputs (CPR) to guide product decisions.
Perform thermal design and analysis for motors, power electronics, and compressor sub-systems; recommend design and lab improvements based on findings.
Partner cross-functionally (engineering, production, marketing) to translate customer and system requirements into validated compressor solutions.
Background & Skills
MS or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with depth in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermal design / analysis.
3+ years of applied / industry or advanced R&D experience in aero / thermal analysis and thermal design beyond coursework.
Hands-on compressor and chiller testing experience (planning, execution, data acquisition / reduction, and reporting in a lab environment).
Proficiency with CFD (., CFX, NUMECA) and analysis tools (., ANSYS for stress / thermal) plus familiarity with CAD / CAE workflows.
Proven collaboration, clear technical communication, and ownership to meet milestones and deliver reliable, data-driven outcomes.
