Summary

The Registered Nurse position provides a variety of medically related services to WLCDC children and staff including both preventative, including screenings, and services and when children and staff are sick. This position evaluates the safety of toys and equipment and designs and provides educational workshops to WLCDC staff. This position provides welcoming customer service to all children, parents, guests, and fellow employees. This position provides guidance in the management of the overall health and safety of over 200 infants, toddlers and preschool age children, as well as the employees of WLCDC.

Duties

  • Complies with State of Connecticut licensing requirements found in the General Statues, Section 19a-79-10 of the Child Day Care Centers and Group Day Care Homes Regulations.
  • Meets regularly with Executive Director, Assistant Director, and Family / Intake Coordinator and to help coordinate the activities of the program components.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports.
  • Oversees and coordinates medical, safety and wellness program components for staff and children.
  • Weekly visits and observations of children in attendance to assess general health and development.
  • Conducts routine observations and retaining of staff of diaper changing and toileting practices.
  • Conducts initial screening of all incoming children with interview of parent / guardian.
  • Reviews, documents, and maintains health records of children and employees and ensure that the state log documentation is current and accurate.
  • Conducts monthly inspections of the contents, storage, and utilization of all first aid kits.
  • Evaluates safety of toys, equipment, and the general facility including both indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Reviews best practices for handwashing, toileting and mitigating illness and the associated program policies and procedures.
  • Shares resource materials and assists with health-related referrals. Coordinates vision and dental screenings. Reviews individual care plan for children with special health care needs and / or disabilities.
  • Plans and provides parent / teacher workshops on health and nutrition related topics to include certifications in medication administration, CT Child Care, Infant / Child / Adult CPR / First Aid.
  • Consults with staff in the identification of suspected child neglect and / or abuse.
  • Reviews policies and procedures and administration of medication and all other health and safety areas.
  • Attends trainings and meetings at the direction of the Executive Director.
  • Monitors and document illness trend in illness within the program amongst staff and children.
  • Convene and lead the WLCDC Health and Safety Committee.
  • Serve as the liaison with the Labor Division regarding health and safety guidelines / protocols.
  • Established-non fluctuating work schedule between 7 : 00am-5 : 00pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN) preferred, or current valid unrestricted Registered Nurse Connecticut license is required.
  • Possess Infant / Child and Adult CPR / First Aid certification is required.
  • Experience working with the pediatric population.
  • Ability to use a stethoscope and pediatric medical equipment.
  • Previous experience developing educational resources for staff and parents.
  • Solid working experiences in the operation of medical equipment-AED machines and others is required.
  • Strong data entry sills is required.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accurate record keeping is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ProCare student information system, Seesaw digital portfolio platform, and Remind application is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.
  • Ability to work independently is required.
  • Ability to relate well with people from diverse groups.
  • Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with the WLCDC mission.

We have provided a high-quality program to Hartford's children and families for 104 years. Our beautiful facility in Hartford's Clay Arsenal neighborhood has 8 School Readiness Preschool classrooms, 8 Toddler Rooms and 1 Infant Room.

    Women's League is currently looking for 3 Lead Teachers and 5 Assistant Teachers.

    Lead Teachers-Preschool / Toddler :

    Full-time positions, 35+hours per week, with generous benefits.     Full-time positions , 35+ hours per week, with generous benefits. Be part of a classroom teaching team, sharing in observation, assessment, curriculum planning and commitment in making an impact in a child's life.

    Requirements : Associate Degree in ECE, OR 30 ECE credits+ 2 years teaching experience.Familiarity with CTELDS and DOTS is a plus. Salary is commensurate with educational level and experience.

    Part time positions , 15-20 hours per week. Be part of a classroom teaching team, assist teachers in preparing classroom materials, support children with transitions and build everlasting relationships with children.

    Requirements- 18 years old Highschool Diploma / GED or some ECE credits. Experience working with children, kind, reliable and punctual willing to work in a team.
