Rivier University seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor of Computer Science. Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Sciences, the Instructor of Computer Science is responsible for providing the Arts and Sciences Division at Rivier University with on-campus, face-to-face instruction in the Computer Science Department.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide instruction with a keen interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students of all levels and abilities.
  • Support student success as an instructor and an academic advisor.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, both in the department and throughout the University community.

Qualifications :

  • An earned master’s degree in computer science or a related field is required, and an earned doctorate is preferred. If the successful candidate does not have an earned doctorate, that candidate must be willing to pursue a doctoral degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Experience teaching computer science at the university level and a demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach a wide range of graduate computer science courses.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence in a computer science program.
  • Desire to mentor graduate students in their coursework, research, and career goals.
  • The ability and willingness to support the mission of the University.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty and staff and maintain collegial relations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including online teaching, and reporting platforms, as well as online calendaring and email.
  • This position classification has been defined as exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
