ABOUT THE POSITION
Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations of the Accounting / Finance Department. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures.
Key Deliverables
- Data entry of vendor invoices using two- and three-way matching
- Record issues for handling by receiving or procurement teams
- Respond to vendor inquiries promptly via email or phone
- Process payment runs for multiple business units in various currencies
- Reconciling vendor ledger against vendor statements
- Provide administrative support for maintaining all financial files related to accounts payable.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Performs the day-to-day processing of accounts payable transactions.Responsible for account payable invoice and data entry.Verify that transactions comply with established financial policies and procedures.Verify any changes to vendor banking per company two step validation procedures.Record, prepare, and process all checks in compliance with established procedures.Handling payments in an organized and timely manner.Maintain listings of accounts payable and the general ledger as necessary.Maintain updated vendor files and file numbers.Research and recommend policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounts payable function.Provide administrative support as necessary for maintaining the filing system for financial documents and ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.Assist in annual audit by preparing assigned reports or providing documentation as directed by internal and external auditors.Responsible for working with purchasing department and outside vendors to resolve problems resulting from invoices received.Actively support Astec's core values, mission statement and vision statement.Assume other special activities and responsibilities as directedTo be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are :
Minimum high school diploma or equivalentProficient in Microsoft Office Suites, spreadsheet software, and recording and bookkeeping principles.Ability to learn JD Edwards softwareDetail oriented, with accurate data entry skillsEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced environment processing large volume of transactions.Maintain proficiency as needed and approved by attending training courses, reading job-related materials, and meeting with others in area of responsibilitySupervisor and Leadership Expectations
