Job Details : Under general supervision directs and coordinates all recreation classes, camps and special events on a city-wide basis for recreation centers, parks, schools, and other facilities. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates all instructors and staff that provides recreation services in program area.
Essential Job Functions :
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all recreation classes, camps, and special events for all ages on a city-wide basis for assigned recreation centers, parks, schools, and other facilities; instruct recreational classes in necessary situations.
- Oversee complete customer functions regarding programs to include surveys, focus groups and parent meetings; ability to analyze all aspects and make recommendations for improvements to programs; ability to promote recreational activities on a city-wide basis.
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate all instructors, camp staff and special event staff that provides recreation services.
- Develop awareness packages for outside agencies and other groups to increase.
- Produce written marketing materials as they relate to programs, assist Marketing division with production of marketing material including print and electronic advertisement.
- Develop an expense / revenue budget(s) based on business plans developed for program areas, track and monitor all expenditures monthly, monitor retention rates and evaluation scores and complete budget analysis reports on a quarterly basis.
- Complete regular reports such as payroll, purchasing, monthly productivity reports and others as requested by management.
Other Job Functions :
Serve on process improvement teams, customer enhancement projects and assist with unit wide training programs of staff in the areas of customer service and safety.Operate an integrated computer system, provide, and analyze database information.Minimum Qualifications : Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
Knowledge of the principles, rules, and materials of recreation activities.Knowledge of the techniques of supervision to plan, assign, coordinate, direct and monitor recreational personnel and programs.Knowledge of marketing and promotional strategies. Knowledge of ADA and its effects on recreation programs.Skill in developing recreational curriculums for instructional procedures. Skill in managing multiple tasks.Ability to select and train new recreation instructors and plan schedules and monitor and evaluate a quality customer-oriented staff and their activities.Ability to prepare financial records, activity reports and annual budgets.Ability to communicate with city employees and the public by oral and written means.Ability to plan, organize and evaluate recreational-instructional programs, as well as instruct recreational classes.Ability to develop alternative solutions to problems, to evaluate course of action and reach appropriate decisions.Ability to understand concepts and perform calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to seeing, calculating, carrying, and entering data on PC.Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including, but not limited to computer, calculator, telephone, and copier.Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in an outdoor environment.Ability to respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Qualifying Education and Experience : A bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation, Physical Education, Marketing, or related field plus two (2) years' related experience.
