Clayton Services is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join a fast-growing company in Northeast Houston. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical systems and equipment to support efficient operations and high-quality production. This role requires hands-on engineering expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement in an industrial setting.

Job Type : Temp-to-Hire

Pay Rate : $90,000-$120,000 / year, depending on experience

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and test mechanical components, systems, and equipment
  • Create and review technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to ensure system reliability and efficiency
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide solutions for mechanical failures and process improvements
  • Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and project management
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and manuals
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews and document system modifications
  • Provide technical support during shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency troubleshooting
  • Other duties as assigned

Mechanical Engineer Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to speak and write English
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States
  • This is not a remote position; no relocation assistance is provided
  • Mechanical Engineer Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's preferred
  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environments preferred
  • Experience with design software, FEA / CFD tools, or ERP systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies is desirable
  • Mechanical Engineer Physical and Environmental Requirements :

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or in the field
  • Must be able to walk, bend, climb stairs, and access elevated platforms in industrial settings
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
  • Must be able to work in environments with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Must be able to travel domestically or internationally as required by project needs
  • Must be able to respond to operational needs outside of standard business hours when necessary
