Talent4Health is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Yuma, Arizona.

ICU Unit Profile – EPIC System Facility General Requirements

  • Start dates : Not flexible
  • 100-mile radius rule : Enforced
  • EMR : EPIC proficiency required (must be recent)
  • No 48-hour guarantees
  • No blocked scheduling
  • RTO limit : Maximum 5 days
  • Trauma experience : Recent Level I / II hospital experience required

    • Unit Details

  • Unit Type : Med-Surg ICU
  • Nurse–Patient Ratios :

    • 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 typical

  • 1 : 3 only if no vents / drips
  • Total Beds : 42
  • Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

    • Patient Population / Common Diagnoses

  • Cardiac (including open heart), balloon pump, Impella
  • tPA patients (post admin; if interventional → flown to Phoenix)
  • TPE
  • Level III trauma patients kept in-house
  • Not required : trauma specialty experience
  • Required experience : vents, sedation, sepsis, pressors, DKA, cardiac / CHF, respiratory failure

    • Drips & Clinical Skills

    RNs must be able to independently titrate a wide range of ICU drips.

    Common Titrated / Set-Rate Drips

  • Vasopressors : Epinephrine, Levophed, Phenylephrine, Vasopressin
  • Inotropes : Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone (Primacor)
  • Antiarrhythmics : Amiodarone, Cardizem, Esmolol, Lidocaine, Procainamide
  • Antihypertensives : Clevidipine, Labetalol, Cardene, Nipride, Nitroglycerin
  • Beta-Adrenergic : Isuprel
  • Sedatives : Ketamine, Precedex, Propofol, Versed
  • Paralytics : Vecuronium, Nimbex, Rocuronium
  • Analgesics : Fentanyl, Morphine
  • Anticoagulants : Aggrastat, tPA, Argatroban, Heparin, Integrilin
  • Other : Insulin infusions

    • Staffing Structure

  • Charge Nurse : Yes, charge-free; responds to codes / RRTs
  • PCA Support : Yes; PCA ratio ~1 : 10

    • PCA skills : EKGs, blood sugars, procedure setup, I&Os, ADLs, lab draws (trained phlebotomists)

  • Providers :

    • 24 / 7 Intensivist coverage

  • Days : 2 MDs + 1 NP
  • Nights : 1 MD + 1 NP
  • Respiratory Therapy :

    • 24 / 7 coverage

  • Manages vents, performs ABGs, intubations, assists with bedside trachs
  • Equipment : Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow
  • Monitoring :

    • Unit Support Representative (USR) handles monitoring + unit clerk duties

  • Centralized monitoring at stations; monitors also in patient rooms

    • Scheduling

  • Shift Times : 06 : 45–19 : 15 (grace period : 3 minutes before / after)
  • Mandatory : Must clock out for lunch
  • Scheduling model : Self-scheduling
  • RTO : Up to 4 days per 4-week schedule (max 5 days total for contract)
  • Weekends : 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
  • Holidays : 2 major holidays required (for Christmas—day only, not Eve)
  • Call : No call or standby
  • Floating : Yes; may float to other units (ratio on float units = 1 : 4 instead of 1 : 6)
  • Scrubs : Navy blue

    • Orientation

  • 1 day NEO
  • 1 day educator-led skills / competencies / procedures
  • 1 day unit orientation on the floor
