MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
All Qualifications must be met consistently and continuously
- Graduation from a school accredited to offer the approved Psychiatric Technician educational program or accredited to offer the approved License Vocational Nurse educational program.
- Current license from the Board of Psychiatric Technicians PT and Vocational Nursing LVN.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with medical and behavioral health staff and other service providers both orally and in writing.
- Able to work proficiently on computers and computer based information systems.
- Must have the willingness and ability to actively and effectively engage psychologically distressed clients and maintain a respectful and responsive attitude while providing therapeutically sound services.
- Demonstrated on-going emotional stability good judgment and effective teamwork.
- Must maintain a valid California drivers license and additionally must be insurable under the agencys current auto insurance policies.
- The employee must be able to quickly navigate several flights of stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to lift and / or move up to 20 pounds multiple times during each work addition the employee must be able to assist individuals in exiting the facility in the case of an emergency and to perform CPR and standard Medical First Aid procedures to persons in prone positions at ground level.
- Basic word processing skills; maintain computer requirements of the City and County of San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The PTs / LVNs primary responsibility is to provide consistently effective clinical services behavioral health and physical to the clients of the Urgent Care Center. This includes the direct provision of psychiatric medical and pharmacy services; assistance if needed with medical behavioral health and pharmacy services for the Residential Treatment Program; establishing and maintaining effective relations with clients client families and support people and with the general community; and maintaining a comfortable safe non-institutional ambiance in the program. Services must be provided in a manner that is safe and helpful for clients staff and the general community and that evidences a non-institutional character that is congruent with Social Rehabilitation values and principles.
Basic Job Skills :
A. Provide direct behavioral and nursing care services to clients of the urgent care program.
Performs nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments including oral medications hypodermic injections pulse blood pressure respiration and first aid as authorized within the scope and practice of a PT / LVN.Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team in all aspects of the development and implementation of a treatment plan.Responds to all emergencies that involve the use of medical and / or behavioral intervention techniques.Provides one-to-one supervision and observation of clients on special precautions including suicide risks serious medical conditions and serious self injurious behavior.Performs custody tasks including escorting clients in the facility and in the community searching for drugs and contraband weapons.Applies and demonstrates knowledge of correct methods in the prevention and management of assaultive behavior.SYSTEM RELATIONSHIP
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all designated client referral sources and other related behavioral health and social services. This includes as determined or approved by the Program Director special clinical care or case conference meetings.Maintain favorable relations with neighbors of the program facility and the general community. Report to the Program Director all non-service contacts with neighbors or local residents including businesses whether positive or negative in nature.Work with the Program Director to identify and develop policies or resources to promote the mission of the agency and the goals of the program.REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Ensure that all medication charts and other client records are secure and confidential as determined by Progress Foundation and San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.Comply with all applicable San Francisco Division of Community Behavioral Health Services regulations and Cal Department of Mental Health (Title 9) requirements that affect the program.Comply with all applicable federal state and local governmental laws and regulations as well as all agency policies and procedures including the Progress Foundation Code of Ethics. Report to Progress Foundation Administration all incidents involving any program employee regular or per diem that may constitute a violation of said laws regulations policies and procedures.Maintain compliance with Federal HIPAA regulations.WORK ENVIRONMENT / SAFETY
Participate in maintaining the UCC facility environment so that it remains safe attractive and comfortable and non-institutional in character.Be thoroughly familiar with and adhere to emergency procedures to be followed in case of human injury illness or adverse reaction to medications. Be thoroughly familiar with the UCC emergency evacuation plan for fire earthquake power failure or other such disruption.Key Skills
