Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in patient-centered care through the nursing processes of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will coordinate and provide high-quality care based on established clinical protocols and physician orders, collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes, all while fostering a compassionate environment for patients and their families.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with organizational policies and the nursing process.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and accurately document findings, promptly reporting any changes in condition to the care team.
  • Apply understanding of human growth and development to provide appropriate care and education tailored to each patient's age.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor for side effects, and ensure proper documentation in line with established practices.
  • Assist physicians during procedures, adhering to your documented competency and skill level.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient needs.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and actively participate in life-saving interventions, such as CPR and code team efforts.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs, ensuring their voices are heard in care planning and delivery.
  • Provide essential education to patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
  • Implement infection control protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment essential for patient care and safety.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff, promoting patient safety in adherence to National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Participate in audits and compliance checks to maintain adherence to standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making in care planning, delegation, and delivery based on patient needs and organizational policies.
  • Thoroughly document all patient care and education in the medical record promptly.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance clinical competencies and keep updated with current standards.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, complying with all established policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of the nursing process and clinical nursing practices.
  • Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and effectively communicate findings.
  • Proficient in administering medications and monitoring for side effects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documenting patient care.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and / or Compact State Licensure required.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.
