Java Web Developer

BMO is currently sourcing for a Java Web Developer to support Capital Markets.

This is a fully remote 6-month contract role.

Role Overview

The Java Web Developer will support the Capital Markets line of business by writing, configuring, and integrating Java code that aligns with BMO’s architecture patterns and technology strategy. This role involves understanding business processes and contributing to the development of scalable, secure, and high-performing software.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and configure Java-based applications

Support research and development of frameworks and standards

Decompose business requirements into functional design and code

Review and monitor code performance

Evaluate and recommend new technologies

Address production issues and conduct root-cause analysis

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet business objectives

Must-Have Skills

3–4 years of experience in web technologies or IT

Proficiency in Java

Experience with JUnit testing framework

Knowledge of modern software development practices

Ability to code independently with minimal oversight

Understanding of operating systems, deployment, and business processes

Strong technical analysis and troubleshooting abilities

Education

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
