Preschool Teacher

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for Preschoolers. This role focuses on fostering each child's spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through developmentally appropriate, Biblically based care and education.

The teacher will model Christ-like character, professionalism, reliability and teamwork. They will support each child's individual growth, and partner with families and colleagues to ensure excellence in early childhood education consistent with the purpose, values and strategy of Abundant Life Christian Childcare.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Lead Preschool Teacher shall include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities :

Provide appropriate daily structure, guidance and care that meets the growing needs of preschoolers.

Design and facilitate a learning rich environment that engages children in engaging, interactive play that encourages developmental growth in all areas.

Observe, document, and evaluate each child's progress at least twice a year (October and April).

Utilize teaching methods that accommodate diverse needs, abilities, and interests.

Integrate Biblical worldview and Christ-like values into all interactions and learning opportunities.

Provide attentive, loving care and support for children, in all areas including diapering, toilet training, and self-help skills.

Ensure the classroom environment is safe, clean, and organized at all times.

Provide appropriate child supervision at all times.

Maintain accurate daily attendance and update required logs and records weekly.

Follow all health, safety, and universal precaution policies and procedures.

Build and maintain positive relationships with families, co-workers and administration.

Use effective verbal and written communication with families, co-workers and administration.

Communicate with families daily in partnership and as needed for developmental progress.

Meet with parents or guardians as needed to discuss their child's growth, needs, and family priorities.

Maintain clear instructions for substitute teachers including items such as schedules, routines, and developmental notes.

Participate in required meetings, trainings or events.

Keep current student health and medication information readily accessible.

Participate in and receive required yearly EEC professional development training (minimum 20 hours annually).

Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff.

Uphold EEC licensing regulations.

Complete tasks assigned by directors per needs of the center with flexibility.

Certification : DEEC-Certified Teacher (Massachusetts)

Requirements : Acquire within 6 months and maintain CPR and 1st Aid. Perform duties involving walking, running, bending, lifting and moving equipment or children (up to approximately 35 lbs.) as needed.
